Synopsis: A collection of Chinese fairy tales, told in simple clear prose.Review: As far as collections of fairy tales go, this is a lame, westernized version. The stories have a "bleach" feel, as if the author removed all the Asian bit she could. This isn't surprising since it was written in 1958. But, as an example of Chinese folktales, even one for kids, this isn't the book. Some of the art is good, but again, it's over stylized and somewhat demeaning toward the culture. Not really a book I'd recommend.
